Summary

• Abraham was one of them, and he was chosen to be an example of covenant faith for all future generations.
• God revealed to him how salvation would come through the sacrifice of Christ.
• His faith was tested when he was asked to offer Isaac, and he obeyed, so God provided a ram in the boy’s place.
• Abraham was not perfect, for he lied about his wife and took matters into his own hands, yet he believed and it was counted to him as righteousness.
• This is the gospel in the Old Testament, and Paul uses this verse to teach justification by faith.
• The three angels’ messages of Revelation 14:6–12 are the same everlasting gospel Abraham believed.
